The old fort still stands, and is used as a retirement home for old solders. The main building was built in 1864 and holds many spirits and is not for the faint of heart. An old barn at the edge of Ft. Dodge also has activity. At 3:30 every morning all the lights come on and all of the doors open. This is apparently the time they used to milk the cows housed at the barn.
