Supposedly there was a shipwreck here and the captain of the ship was decapitated. It's the typical story of the headless ghost wandering around, supposedly searching for his head.

There was a Privateer who was captured by the British as he was smuggling for the infant USA during the war of 1812. He was decapitated and his head was thrown overboard. The legend is that when his head was thrown overboard his dog jumped in afterwords. Now on nights of the full moon you can hear the mysterious baying of the dog loking for his master's head.
- |50.54.208.xxx |2011-05-09 11:53:42 thom carrollmore beleivable is your version but as a youngboy motoring about damiriscove island my older lobstering freinds told me to stay off outer heron island as something roamed the island !! the stories they heard were when younger were that there was a settlement out there at turn of century when no one had heard fm settlment for sometime local fishernman went out to island no one left alive except one man hanging upside down in tree dead all buildings empty like they just got up and left next story was in the supposed cave on island navy diver went in to water in cave and was pulled backup talking incoherently and scared beyong reason always wondered why nobody visited island to this day u find every island on coast of maine with at least one cottage on it
