Before shifting to Napier we decided to "suss the place out" and stayed at the Masonic Lodge in the left corner balcony room that overlooks the sea and is nearest to Herscells St. About 2am we were woken by very heavy footsteps, definitely a woman's in heavyheeled shoes not a man's, striding down the hallway in a very hurried, agitated manner and stopping at the end, which happened to be outside our door. We listened to this several times and then realised to our horror, they were not RETURNING the way they had come. Just clonk-clonk-clonk, a very quick, forceful walk to the end of the building then.... nothing. We ended up sitting up in bed watching the doorhandle, scared it was going to turn, but it didn't. Then we also realised the hallway was carpeted, so how come we could hear 'her' on WOODEN floorboards? .
