Blood Town Forest is a heavily forested area owned by the town of Lancaster Massachusetts. Stories of grisly murders and resulting hauntings are shared with anyone who will listen.
History
The real story about how the forest got its name is quite different than the ghost stories told around camp fires. In 1946, Arthur W. Blood donated approximately 125 acres to the town of Lancaster, MA. This was added to other town owned land in the area between Brockelman Road and Old County Road to become the original Arthur W. Blood Town Forest. Later, another parcel on the westerly side of Brockelman Road was added. This is the Town Forest as it exists today.
Hauntings
We're working on trying to find any evidence of the stories below, so far both look like rumor based on Arthur W. Blood's unfortunate last name.
According to one version of the story, this forest got its name back in the 70's when kids used to go camping out in the forest. One night a guy and a girl went out there, and while the girl was setting up the tent, the guy went back to the car to get something, and when he got to the car, the girl's head was resting on the hood of the car. So he ran to a nearby farmer's house and called the police, and when the police got to the car, the guy's body was dead next to it. Since then the name has been changed to Blood Town Forest for obvious reasons. You can hear all kinds of messed up things if you go out there, but be careful if you do because farmers that live nearby try to chase kids away from going in the forest. There is a big rock at the entrance that tells the entire story. A few kids have said that they have seen stuff out there.
The other version is similar, Supposedly old man blood killed many families and hung there bodies from the trees in this forest. Police eventually caught him but he escaped from a mental hospital some years later and was killed when he was found hanging more bodies. Late in the evening to early morning hours if you visit the stone entering Blood forest you can see images of bodies hanging from the trees. Shadows all around and even screams from old man blood's victims. There have only been a few sightings of old man blood but his spirit is known to run when approached.

- |97.95.181.xxx |2010-01-22 21:33:49 amber - blood forestwell i went there a couple weeks ago with 2 friends we parked on the side of the road and walked down the path to the shut down insane asylum and we got up to the building that looked like there was lights on and when we got closer we realized everything was boarded up so we were freaked out we kept at least a 10 foot distance from the building and we started hearing screaming and someone running through the snow so we all booked it back to the car. when we get in the car we go to pull out and the car shut off! so were freaking out and after 20 minutes of trying to fix the car we called a tow truck that took them 3 hours to get the car we found out a couple days later the car was fine and they didnt know why it didnt work that night! when we were waiting in the car we all saw like a guy or something that would pop out from behind this one tree and then go back behind it we saw it do that for 15 minutes untill another car drove by and it disapeared so our experience was a little wack...

So earlier tonight some of my friends and I went to Blood Forest, we stopped about half a mile in because my friends were scared of some noises that I assumed were just animals. Although I admit I did jump when a small piece of branch fell out of the tree and landed right behind us. So on our way back to the car we could hear Church music, it was off and on so we pretty much booked it, lol. We're going back in the morning.

There seems to be somthing that might be coming out of the ground in the backgroud, looks like an orb. I went back to check for any reflective surfaces in the area and there were none. After I called over a friend of mine to show the pic to and he came up behind me and put his arm around my shoulder to look at the camera. I talked about the pictures for about ten mins an realize he never even came near me, he had already gone down the trail before I called him.
