The history of Fort Lapwai is entangled with one of the darkest times in US History; the removal, relocation, and reeducation of Native Americans. The buildings of the fort were used as offices, dormitory's and also a TB hospital and sanitarium by the U.S. Calvary during the early settlement days. Because of this, it's not surprising that paranormal activity exists. The building that now houses Head Start classes, has had a variety of paranormal activity downstairs; toys are often found as if they had been played with-after they had been put away, mysterious lights have been witnessed, and apparitions have been seen, rocking chairs move without anyone in them, among other strange occurrences. Other rooms also have activity, but the basement of this particulkar building seems to have the most.
